Rentokil Initial has won the 2016 UK BCS IT Industry Award for Best Internet of Things Project, beating six other strong finalists in this category. The UK IT Industry Awards are one of the longest established and most prestigious awards of its kind and focuses on the contribution of individuals, projects, organisations and technologies that have excelled in the use, development and deployment of IoT in the past 12 months.
Working together, PA Consulting Group developed a Google cloud-based Internet of Things platform for Rentokil Initial’s connected Pest control business that collects real time data and sends messages whenever traps need clearing or maintenance. That means Rentokil can monitor a customer’s location 24 hours a day and have immediate visibility on potential infestations before they get out of hand and potentially impact the customer’s business environment. Data about the working processes and data about the customer is collected, ensuring improved customer service.
Brad Kilshaw, Google’s EMEA Head of Partnerships said: “We are delighted with the fantastic recognition of this market changing project by our Strategic Partner, PA Consulting and impressed with the innovation delivered by both PA Consulting and Rentokil Initial.”
