Appearance

•  Many different species. 5–75 mm in length.
•  Flattened body with many segments.
•  Each body segment has one pair of legs — 15–90 pairs of legs in total.

Lifecycle

•  Eggs laid in batches and tended by the female until ready to hatch.

Habits

•  Fast moving & predatory.
•  Occasionally crawl into concealed locations indoors.
•  Favours moist locations. Prone to water loss as they have no waxy cuticle.
•  Usually found outdoors but may crawl indoors for safety.
•  Tropical species can be highly venomous.
