Pest Control Expert

Richard Doyle has been in the Pest Control industry for over 20 years. Richard started as a trainee Technician with Rentokil Pest Control, becoming a fully qualified and licensed technician. After four years servicing clients he moved into Sales and from there to Branch Manager, Technical Manager, into his current position of National Operations Manager. Richard is now based at the Rentokil Pest Control Head Office in Sydney.

How did you become interested in pest control?

I had been working as a Green keeper in the Golf Course industry for some 17 years and I was looking for a change. I already had extensive knowledge of pest and weed control through my experience in the golf course maintenance so in a way moving to pest control was deemed to be somewhat an easy progression.

When did you join Rentokil and what was your position?

I started with Rentokil Pest Control as a trainee technician in Newcastle in January 1987 where I trained in all aspects of pest control including commercial, residential, pre-purchase inspections and fumigation.

What's the most enjoyable part of your job?

Working with all the people in the business - from the Manager's to Administrator's to the Service Technician's and providing both management and technical support. I am passionate about delivering the highest professional pest control services to all our clients on time every time.

What do you as the biggest challenge in the Pest Control industry in the next 5 years?

Providing higher levels of control, and at the same time reducing the need and use of chemicals. This will need the total co operation of our clients and we need to be able to provide on going training and knowledge to not only our clients but the general population as a whole.
