A Physical Barrier protects your property by preventing the entry of termites. Physical Barriers can only be installed prior to the slab being laid.

How does a Physical Barrier work?

A Physical Barrier is a membrane that comes in 1500mm wide sheets, which are laid prior to the slab in the exact same fashion as if laying a standard moisture membrane. The sheets must be overlapped by 200mm, sealed with adhesive and taped down with a quality cloth tape.

The Physical Barrier is a flexible system that may be installed in many difficult and complicated areas including multiple penetrations, steps downs, etc. It can be molded into unusual building designs and is easily cut and joined ensuring total protection of the building.

The Physical Barrier has a high fibre density of 200g per square meter. The design cushions the system and prevents it being squashed, even under heavy building loads or even if it gets wet.

The Physical Barrier is easily and quickly installed and has no sharp edges that could possibly get in the way of other trades people.
The termite barrier is long lasting and will remain in place protecting your property without the need of continually pumping it up with additional chemicals.

Chemical Barriers

Termite Protection Chemical Barriers can create a termite barrier around your home’s perimeter. This approach to termite control has been utilised for more than 50 years. A Chemical Barrier is a liquid (Termiticide) that is applied to the soil to form a barrier between the soil and the building structure, which prevents termites from entering your home. Chemical Barriers can be applied under a concrete floor or around the foundations of the building both prior to or after construction.

How does a Chemical Barrier work?

The life expectancy of a Chemical Barriers ranges from 5 to 10 years depending on which product is used. Our Rentokil Termite Technicians can give you more information on the products available and when they recommend your home to be retreated. There are a variety of Termiticide's used, which have different modes of action. For example, some have a 'deterrent' mode that means the termites detect the Termiticide and move on to find another way into your home and there are others that when the termite comes in contact with the chemical they die.
